Portrait of a Graduate: Preparing Students for Success in College, Career & Life in the Innovation Era
What are the characteristics and skills graduates of Athens City Schools need to have to be successful in college, career, and life? This is the essential question that we sought to answer as a community connected by education.
We are in the early stages of redeveloping the system's strategic plan that will carry us through the next five years. This plan will be informed by the voices of our community. Students, parents, teachers, business leaders, communities of faith, higher education, social service agencies, families, and community members - all voices matter. This is your community. These are your schools. This is everyone's future. Upon completion, the portrait will serve as a North Star for the district in the years to come.
In the spring of 2019, we invited the community to be a part of the process. We took the show on the road and shared the visioning process for our portrait with several community organizations and groups. We encouraged the community to participate through surveys to share feedback and contribute to the vision.
The portrait is in the final stages before going before the Board of Edcuation for approval. We expect to present our data, findings and conclusions to the community in the fall of 2019.
