We are happy you have chosen to enroll your child in Athens City Schools. This is a very important step in your child's future, and we are confident you will be proud that you selected Athens City Schools.

Please Read the Following Before You Begin

Eligibility

Requirements

The following documents are required to enroll your Kindergarten student in Athens City Schools. Please ensure you have all of the required paperwork above BEFORE you begin.

Parent/Guardian Picture ID
Birth Certificate (or alternative documentation in absence of a birth certificate)
Social Security Card (Optional) If a student does not have an SSN, a temporary number shall be assigned as specified by the ALSDE.
Alabama Immunization Record
Proof of Residence (Current utility bill, mortgage statement or rent lease agreement. When two families reside at the same address, a Landlord Letter may be submitted).
Proof of Custody/Guardianship - Custody papers may be required if the student doesn't reside with both birth parents. Custody/Guardianship will be made through the Judge's office. Board Policy stipulates neither Delegation of Parental Authority nor Power of Attorney will be accepted as a document for the student's legal custody. A signed Notary will not be used as a valid document for enrollment.
Last Report Card (if applicable).
Withdrawal Form if coming from another school (if applicable).

ACS Academies

About the Academies

Athens City Schools has four elementary schools, also known as the Athens Academies. The Academies serve students in grades PreK through 3rd grade and offer enriched school experiences in preparation for advancing grade levels. Students are surrounded by teachers who are passionate about teaching meaningful content via processes that support authentic student engagement. Click on each Academy below to learn more. This registration process is for traditional kindergarten enrollment for the Athens Academies. If you are interested in enrolling at Athens Renaissance School for non-traditional/blended kindergarten enrollment, click HERE for more information.

Kindergarten Lottery

Our kindergarten registration process provides a school choice option for parents. Click HERE to learn more about the ACS Academies. First, please register for your ACS ZONED SCHOOL. If you have questions about zoning, please contact us at (256) 233-6600.

If you are interested in the School Choice/Kindergarten Lottery, please answer the two school choice/lottery questions during the registration process. The application must be completed by March 22, 2024 to be eligible. You will not need a separate application.
Electronic lottery will be held in May.
Lottery notifications will occur in June.

You may only submit one application per kindergarten student.
All documentation must be uploaded BEFORE you click "submit".

If your family is brand NEW to Athens City Schools and you have never created an ACS PowerSchool account, please follow the instructions below:

You will create a family account to be used for Enrollment in PowerSchool.
Once you create your family account, save that login information for future Enrollment.
You will use the same family Enrollment account to fill out the Returning Student form each school year and to enroll additional students as needed.
All student records will be associated with the same family account.

If your family already has students enrolled in Athens City Schools, follow the instructions below:

You will log in to your PowerSchool using your family account.
You will then complete the Kindergarten Enrollment process.
You will use the same family Enrollment account to fill out the Returning Student form each school year and to enroll additional students as needed.
All existing student records will be associated with the same family account.
