The PLTW Philosophy for Education
PLTW believe all students - regardless of age - need access to real-world, applied learning experiences that empower them to gain the skills they need to thrive in college, career, and beyond.
Through PLTW programs, students develop in-demand, transportable skills – such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and communication – that they will use both in school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take. As PLTW students progress through grade levels, they are empowered to explore career paths, engage in problem solving and process thinking, develop technical knowledge and skills, and build communication skills.
Our PLTW teachers play an immeasurable role in empowering students, and PLTW programs provide teachers with the support and resources they need to devote more time to inspiring students. Through PLTW professional development, our PLTW teachers learn to facilitate and coach and become comfortable in these roles as their students guide their own learning.
Providing Transformative Learning Experiences
Project Lead The Way provides transformative learning experiences for students and teachers at Athens Middle School. As part of a national program, PLTW empowers teachers to create engaging, hands-on classroom environments and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive. Our PLTW teachers have the appropriate training, resources and support needed to engage students in real-world learning.
Laying the Foundation for Success
Global and local challenges surround us. To address these challenges and move forward, the world needs people who know problem-solving strategies, think critically and creatively, communicate and collaborate with others, and persevere when something does not work the first time. Project Lead The Way empowers students with these skills – relevant to any career or role they take on – and prepares teachers to engage their students in hands-on learning. Whether designing and producing prosthetics or deploying innovative water filtration devices in developing countries, PLTW students and the teachers who support them are empowered to make a difference in their classrooms, in their communities, and around the world.
