Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics AMSTI and A+CR certified

Mrs. Jillian Chappell

I am originally from Cullman, AL and graduated from Good Hope High School in 2001. I later attended Wallace State Community College and graduated with an Associate's degree in General Studies in 2008. I changed my major 5 times before I found my calling to education. I received my Bachelor's of Science degree at Athens State University in 2010, and that's how I found myself falling in love with this beautiful, small-big town of Athens.

This is my 11th year teaching high school math. I completed my first ten years with Limestone County Schools: 7 years at Tanner High School and the last 3 years at West Limestone High School. I enjoy teaching High School students because they are really just beginning to realize who they might want to be in life. My favorite parts of what I do are helping students make connections between real life and the math we do in school and creating a space where they feel comfortable to share and make discoveries about themselves in the learning process. My job as a teacher is not only to teach the content but to challenge my students to problem solve in all aspects of life and to become responsible consumers of information. I am so excited to be a part of the Renaissance family!

I have a beautifully blended family of four with a spunky, active little girl who is 5 going on 15 and loves all things girly and a 12 year old baseball-playing, dirt bike-riding, anything fast/dirty and outdoors-loving boy who is quick witted and just like his daddy. My husband works just as hard as he plays and always makes sure we have something planned. I just try to keep up with them. Ha!
