Mrs. Charity Rogers
I am Charity Rogers and I am the new SOAR teacher at Athens Intermediate School. The 2020/2021 school year will be my 17th year of teaching. I have only ever taught special education and my motto for my classroom has always been: ALL children can learn, just not in the same way or on the same day! I live for the A-ha moments!
I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) in Collaborative Education and a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Concordia University in Nebraska.
I was born at Holloman Air Force Base, in Alamogordo, New Mexico but raised in Birmingham, Alabama (my mom still lives there). My extended family live in and around Birmingham, I visit as often as I can!! I have one brother, a business owner outside of Birmingham, and two incredible nieces, a teacher and a musician. I have been married to my husband, Michael, for fifteen years. Together we have four children, two daughters and two sons. Our oldest daughter, Anjillyn, lives here in Athens with her husband and two sons. She is a student and on the management team at Chick-fil-A. The youngest daughter, Taylor, is a sophomore at the University of South Alabama majoring in Business. The youngest son, Corey, also lives here in Athens and works for UPS. Our oldest son, Wilson, passed away nine years ago. I also have two AMAZING grandsons, EthanDale and Joseph, they attend Elkmont Elementary School and this GiGi adores them.
In my free time, I love spending time with friends and family, kayaking, eating good food, and Jeep riding. A few of my favorite things are little league baseball, cows, and TACOS!!!
