Through the years, teachers at JNES have written grants to local and state organizations to fund an outdoor classroom area in which students can read and learn about the outdoors.
On April 20, 2018, every student at JNES participated in a school-wide workday in an effort to refresh and repurpose different areas of our garden. We installed a songbird santuary, sensory flower bed, pollinator flower bed, herb bed, woodland wildlife bed, bird feeders, bird baths, and squirrel feeders on that day. Our Newman News featured our work here as well as the News Courier here.
We have plans to create a goldfish pond, a weather station, and a turtle habitat in the future.
