Mrs. Leslie Batts

Welcome!  I am excited to be a teacher at the Sixth Grade Center at Athens Middle School!

I am a sixth grade science and social studies teacher, and this is my 14th year teaching.  I grew up in Birmingham, where I graduated from Vestavia Hills High School and then attended Birmingham-Southern College on an athletic and academic scholarship.  I had the opportunity to play Division I softball while graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Collaborative Education.  Before moving to Athens, I spent my first eleven years teaching at Cherokee Bend Elementary School in Mountain Brook, Alabama.  While at Cherokee Bend, I taught third grade (8 years), fifth grade (1 year), and sixth grade (2 years).  After moving to Athens, I taught third grade at Brookhill for the 2016-2017 school year.  I am currently the Assistant Coach for the Athens Middle School Softball team.  In August of 2017, I graduated from Auburn University, receiving a Master's of Education in Library Science.

I have been married to my husband, John Christopher, for 12 years. We have two dogs, Peanut and Otis.  I enjoy running, reading, and attending sporting events.  War Eagle!  Go Panthers!
