I am thankful to be teaching in my community of Athens! I have taught English Learners in different opportunities for over 20 years. My experience as a full-time EL / ESL Teacher in public school systems adds up to about 14 years. One of those years, I had the honor of serving as an ELL Coach for the state of Alabama Department of Education. I have spent time in Colombia, South America adopting our youngest daughter, in Guatemala on missions, visiting friends and learning Spanish on several different occasions. One of my passions is to help students and their families to be equipped with what they need to bridge language to content for their success in both social and academic ways. I enjoy doing this not only by teaching the students, but by collaborating with their general education teacher to use strategies that are effective in the classroom. 

Athens has been my home for approximately 19 years. I live with my husband and our two daughters. We enjoy being outdoors and playing board games together!

Along with spending time with family and friends and teaching English Learners, some of my other favorite things to do are: read and teach the Bible, crochet, play the dulcimer, hiking, birding, fishing, reading books and gardening (mostly flowers for me while my husband tends to the vegetable plants and landscaping).

¡Estoy agradecido de estar enseñando en mi comunidad de Athens! He enseñado a estudiantes de inglés en diferentes oportunidades durante más de 20 años. Mi experiencia como profesora de EL/ESL de tiempo completo en sistemas de escuelas públicas asciende a unos 14 años. Uno de esos años, tuve el honor de servir como Entrenador de ELL para el Departamento de Educación del estado de Alabama. He pasado tiempo en Colombia, Sudamérica adoptando a nuestra hija menor, en Guatemala en misiones, visitando amigos y aprendiendo español en varias ocasiones diferentes. Una de mis pasiones es ayudar a los estudiantes y sus familias a estar equipados con lo que necesitan para conectar el lenguaje con el contenido para su éxito social y académico. Disfruto hacer esto no solo enseñando a los estudiantes, sino también colaborando con su maestro de educación general para usar estrategias que sean efectivas en el salón de clases.

Athens ha sido mi hogar durante aproximadamente 19 años. Vivo con mi esposo y nuestras dos hijas. ¡Disfrutamos estar al aire libre y jugar juegos de mesa juntos!

Además de pasar tiempo con la familia y los amigos y enseñar a los estudiantes de inglés, algunas de mis actividades favoritas son: leer y enseñar la Biblia, hacer ganchillo, tocar el dulcimer, hacer caminatas, observar aves, pescar, leer libros y hacer jardinería (principalmente flores para mí). Mientras mi marido se ocupa de las plantas de hortalizas y el paisajismo).
