Welcome to my teacher page! My name is Erica Thompson and this will be my fifth year teaching at Athens High School. I am so proud to be a part of this high school and I look forward to being your biology teacher. I can't wait to meet you all, and I look forward to growing your understanding of biology! 

I have nine years of teaching experience and I attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville, graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a double minor in Chemistry and Secondary Education. I am certified in Biology and General Science. The courses I teach include Biology, Honors Biology, and AP Biology.  I am also the sponsor of the Athens High School chapter of the National Honor Society and the Class of 2023's advisor. 

My husband Brent and I have been married for 8 years, and we have one son, Reid. He will turn five years old this year! We live in Decatur, Alabama with our two labrador retrievers, Jackson, and Doc Holiday. We are all big Alabama football/athletics fans, as Brent graduated from there in 2006. 

In my free time, I enjoy crafting and refinishing furniture. I also collect all things turtle!  I am an alumna of the Lambda Kappa Chapter of Delta Zeta, and am active with my alumna chapter, in Huntsville. I am also a major reading nerd. I love to read and my favorite series include Harry Potter, Outlander, and Game of Thrones.
