Mrs. DayLee Downs
I am a Limestone County native and have been an English teacher since 2004, teaching my first two years at East Limestone (my alma matter) and now having worked in Athens City Schools since 2006. Being in the classroom, to me, is very self-rewarding. Being alongside kids learning is motivating. I love writing, grammar, and reading! In my classroom, I employ a flexible seating arrangement and strive to make students feel comfortable and build relationships with me and with one another. I love to encourage discussions about what we are learning. Teaching is my love, and I love my students and my job!
I am married to Torrey Downs, who is a battalion chief for Athens Fire & Rescue. We have two boys, Clay and Hudson, and two dogs: Dudley, a Yorki Poo and Trudy, an Auggie (Aussie/Corgi). My family loves being outdoors and spending time together. I love the beach, love to cook, and enjoy exercising with friends. We attend Lindsay Lane Baptist Church in Athens, AL.
