Athens High School, 2000 B.S. Elementary Education from Athens State University,2014 Minor in Educational Technology, Athens State University

Mrs. Diane Trout

I graduated from Athens High School in 2000.  I am married to Josh Trout and have two boys, Aidan and John Bryan.  When I am not at school, I spend time with my family, help with activities my boys are involved in, take Zumba classes, join in the antics at Poke Sallet Follies and love anything Disney!  I graduated from Athens State University in December 2014 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Educational Technology. After working as a Title I coach for a semester at Blue Springs Elementary, I was hired as a kindergarten teacher at Julian Newman Elementary and then transferred to SPARK in August 2016. At SPARK, I taught kindergarten for 3 years.  In 2019, I taught second grade at HEART Academy.

I have been awarded “Outstanding Educator of the Year” from Athens State University, presented at FETC, AETC, NATC, Athens State University’s TEACH conference, and local ed camps.  I had the privilege of attending Space Academy for Educators in Summer 2016 and made me realize what an amazing resource we have right in our own backyard. I have been a Seesaw ambassador since May 2016 and use it daily in my classroom.  Summer of 2019, I attended a class at Walt Disney World titled "Designing Disney Inspired Classrooms" and it changed the way I look at what we are doing. I want to make every moment intentional and memorable. In May 2021, I completed my Master's at UWA in Elementary Education.

I love teaching and am SUPER excited to work as the Academy Specialist at HEART Academy!  The students amaze me every day and I enjoy seeing the sparks go off in their minds when they learn something new.  I believe students have a genuine passion to learn and it is up to teachers to help develop those passions.  In the HEART lab, we are going to do hands-on projects that are tied to what the student is learning in their classrooms through their PBL units. There will also be a health and medical focus of the lab to go along with our Academy theme. We also spend a lot of time researching what we can grow in our beautiful school garden. Their work will be documented through Seesaw.  We will be collecting supplies throughout the year to help with our projects (see below). A bin will be set up outside my door where students can drop donations throughout the year.
