Welcome to HEART Academy @ Julian Newman Elementary School! This year 2020-2021 has been a wonderful year so far! I am thankful to be back to school. It will be a year full of challenges and great accomplishments for everyone. I am praying daily and hoping schools will stay open all school year. This is year 13 of being part of this wonderful school family. Julian Newman Elementary School has a caring and loving culture for our students. The faculty and staff strive everyday to meet students' academic needs as well as all other needs that impact student learning.

I was born and raised in Mexico. When I was 15 years old I was the recipient of a scholarship to attend Valley Baptist Academy in Harlingen, TX. where I learned English as my second language and graduated from High School. This amazing opportunity changed my life completly from being away from my own family, learning a second language, adapting to a new culture and meeting wonderful people to the many experiences that I will treasure forever. I am married to Nathan Wright and we have two children Clarisa and Colton.

I am passionate about teaching, (especially my English Learners), and I strive to help and encourage my students in every way. I love to learn new things everyday! Especially, things that will help serve my students better. The people I learn the most from in the school are my colleagues and students. I believe all students are unique and they all learn in different ways. My desire for each of my students is to become passionate and enthusiastic about learning and life. I want them to have confidence in themselves and in their own learning. Some of the many things I enjoy about teaching English Learners include watching them acquire a second language, transferring their knowledge to their new language and having many things in common with my students as an English Learner myself.
