Meet the Teacher

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kristen Tippee

I am orginally from Huntsville, AL. I went to Grissom High school. I played volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school. I then went on to play softball at the University of North Alabama, where I received my degreees. My husband and I met while attending UNA. I began my teaching career in Huntsville at Whitesburg Elementary School. We married in 2008 and moved to St. Louis, MO for one year. Upon our return to Alabama, I began teaching in Athens. From 2009-2011, I taught at Athens Middle School. In 2011, I moved to Brookhill Elementary. We also welcomed our daughter, Avery, in June of 2011. On Valentine's Day in 2014, we welcomed our son, Luke.

While pursuing my master's degree at UNA, I worked as a graduate assistant at Kilby Laboratory School. After finishing my graduated coursework, I began teaching at Whitesburg Elementary School as a Collaborative Special Education Teacher K-5. I primarily worked with grades K-3. After marrying my husband in June 2008, we relocated to St. Louis, MO for his job. While living in St. Louis, I worked as a permanent substitute for 2 maternity leaves in Elementary Education. I also worked as a paraprofessional in a self contained Special Education classroom. In June 2009, we moved back to Alabama. I was offered the job as the 7th grade Special Education Teacher at Athens Middle School. In 2011, I transferred to Brookhill Elementary School as the Collaborative Special Education Teacher K-4. I have been at Brookhill since that time.

I believe that we are all a work in progress. We never stop learning. We all have our own individual strengths. I feel that kids learn more when they feel safe and loved. It is my intention to make all children at Brookhill feel that love and security that is so necessary in development.
