Hello! My name is Koleceia Simmons Shoulders. I have been teaching in ACS since 2010! I currently teach 4th grade Science and Alabama History here at AIS. I graduated from Cherokee High School in 2005. I continued my education at Northwest Shoals Community College, completing my Bachelor's in Elementary Education (K-6) at Athens State University in 2009.

I am originally from Tuscumbia, but I do consider Athens my home away from home! I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, and reading. My husband Keith and I have been married since December 2022, and currently live in Tanner.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of becoming a teacher. My inspiration came from my grandmother, who is a retired 4th grade teacher, and my 3rd grade teacher. My 3rd grade teacher helped to build my confidence as a writer and a student. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share my gift of connecting with children and inspiring them to be the best version of themselves. I believe that ALL children can learn when met where they are and nurtured.
