Mrs. Jada McHalffey

Hello!  My name is Jada McHalffey.  I am married to John McHalffey.  We've been married for 20 years.  John is a maintenance planner at Nucor in Decatur, AL.  I have twins, Kara and Kade, who are beginning their Senior year at Athens High School.  Kara is an Athens cheerleader, and Kade is catcher for the Athens baseball team.  When I'm not at school, you will usually find me at ballgames.  My family and I also worship at Central Church of Christ in Athens.

I think I've wanted to teach school for as long as I can remember.  I used to play school with my little brother.  I had a chalkboard on the back of my bedroom door and an old desk in my room.  After graduating from Athens High School, I started to pursue my dream.  I attended the University of North Alabama for three years and then completed my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education at Athens State College.  About a year later,  I earned my Early Childhood Degree from Athens State College.  I have a Reading Specialist Certification from Alabama A&M University, and I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Alabama A&M University.

I am honored to get to teach your child in first grade this year.  I absolutely love my Firsties!  I am very compassionate about my students.  I am dedicated to go above and beyond to ensure that every one of my students is successful.  First grade is a year of many transitions.  They are becoming readers and writers, and I love being a part of that!  I will be communicating with you often about my classroom plans, your child's progress, school events, and other activities as they emerge.  I look forward to working with you to make your child's first grade year a fabulous one!  Let the learning begin!
