Rebecca Gladney
Hi, Parents! My name is Rebecca Gladney. I am so glad to be a part of the AES family! I invite you to be an active participant in your child’s school experience.
This is my 14th year in education. I taught 2nd grade for 6 years at McAdory Elementary in Jefferson County, Alabama, then stayed home for 9 years while my children were babies. I returned to the classroom in 2013 in Alabaster City Schools. I have a degree in early childhood and elementary education from Samford University. I earned my master’s degree in early childhood education from UAB. I held National Teacher Certification from 2003 to 2013.
I was born here in Athens, AL. I lived here with my dad and mom (who is a retired teacher) until I graduated high school and left for Samford University. During college, I met my husband, Tommy, and we married 4 weeks after my college graduation. We remained in the Birmingham area until July 2017.
I have two daughters, Kate and Erin.
Another responsibility that I hold in the Athens City School System is the majorette sponsor for the high school majorette line. I was a majorette during my time at Athens High School, and I love being back with the majorettes and the Golden Eagle Marching Band.
When not doing school activities, I like to play piano, spend time with my family, and watch Alabama Football. Roll Tide!
These are my favorite things:
Restaurant: Village Pizza
Fast Food: Chic-fil-a
Sport to watch: Football
Colors: Gray and Red
Snack : Doritos
Stores: Target and Amazon
Candy: Chocolate!
Food: Pasta
Pets: 2 cats, Lizzie and Luna
Please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a great year in 3rd grade!
