Mrs. Michelle Mask

My name is Michelle Mask. I am starting my 12th year of teaching. I am an Athens High School graduate and went on to receive my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama (Roar Lions)! I taught first grade for 4 years and now second grade for 8 years. My husband, Brett Mask, is the head football coach at Colbert County High School and we have two children, Rowen, age 5, and Briggs, age 1 month. I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. When I was little, I always wanted to become a teacher. I come from a family of educators so I always say "it's in my blood." My dad taught for 38 years and my mom worked in the school office and then for the superintendent. I would go to my dad's classroom and play teacher on his chalkboard and then when I was home, I would line up my stuffed animals and teach to them. I believe all students can learn and I hope to instill the joy of learning in my students. One of my favorite things is to see a child have an "ah-ha" moment and light up when they have mastered a new concept. I believe in making learning fun and engaging for students of every walk of life.
