Mrs. Michelle Mask

My name is Michelle Mask. I am starting my 14th year of teaching. I am an Athens High School graduate and went on to receive my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama (Roar Lions)! I taught first grade for 4 years and now second grade for 10 years. My husband, Brett Mask, is the head football coach at Colbert County High School and we have two children, Rowen, age 7, and Briggs, age 2. I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. When I was little, I always wanted to become a teacher. I come from a family of educators so I always say "it's in my blood." My dad taught for 38 years and my mom worked in the school office and then for the superintendent. I would go to my dad's classroom and play teacher on his chalkboard and then when I was home, I would line up my stuffed animals and teach to them. I believe all students can learn and I hope to instill the joy of learning in my students. One of my favorite things is to see a child have an "ah-ha" moment and light up when they have mastered a new concept. I believe in making learning fun and engaging for students of every walk of life.
