Mrs. Kate Armstrong

Welcome! My name is Kate Armstrong and I am a first-grade teacher. I look forward to a great year!! I love having a lot of fun in school and especially in our classroom. I love to celebrate wonderful behavior and hard work. I also believe in having a classroom where every student feels safe, comfortable, happy and cared for. I want each and every student to succeed to his or her highest potential and I will do everything I can to make that happen.

This will be my 10th year with Athens City Schools. I worked as an aide at Athens High School and Athens Intermediate School after completing my B.S. Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Middle Tennessee State University. Then, in 2010 I was hired to teach first-grade at Athens Elementary School. I just completed my M.A. in Elementary Education at The University of West Alabama this summer.

I am married to B.J. Armstrong a teacher and coach at Athens High School. We have two children Holden and Addison. Holden will be in 2nd grade and Addison will be in Preschool. We are big Golden Eagle Fans!! You will see us at all the Golden Eagle Football games on Friday nights. We also attend First Baptist Church in Athens. In my free time, I love to run 5ks and exercise.

I became a teacher because even as a small child I loved to play school. Watching children grow and develop each year is a driving force for why I have a passion for education. My hope is that the children in my classroom realize their purpose and develop a belief in their own ability that they can do anything they set their mind to.
