Mrs. Cindy Greenway

Hi! I'm Cindy Greenway and I am one of Athens Elementary's reading and math resource teachers. I love working with students in grade levels K-3. I believe all students can achieve their personal goals and am dedicated to helping them reach their greatest potential.

I'm originally from Scottsboro, AL and have now resided in Athens for half my life! My educational background began with an Associate in Applied Science from Snead State Jr. College where I studied to become a licensed Veterinary Technician. While working with local vets in Scottsboro, I was offered the unexpected opportunity to teach in my church's preschool. It was there that I learned how amazing teaching can be! After moving here with my family, I attended Athens State Univeristy (B.S.) and Alabama A&M (M.Ed.) to finish my degrees in Early Childhood Education. After becoming certified, I worked as an instructional aide at Julian Newman Elementary for one year. The rest of my teaching career has been spent at Athens Elementary. I was a first grade teacher for nine years and have been a Title I teacher for 18 years. I am certified in Reading for grades PreK-12. For several years I conducted workshops across the United States for Kendall Hunt's Insights science program. I am convinced that I didn't "find" teaching, the teaching profession "found" me!

My husband, Randal, and I have 5 amazing children and have been blessed with nine grandchildren. Our entire family enjoys the "lake life" in Tennessee. I have enjoyed traveling with my husband to Australia, Canada, and many exciting places across the States. We try to get back to the mountains in Utah every chance we get where we love to ski. I also love reading, running, and hanging out with my pets!
