Athens High School Summer Session
AHS offers Summer Session opportunities including:
AHS Credit Recovery
Credit Recovery is for Athens High School Students (grades 9-12) who have not been successful in mastering content standards in a core course, earning a final average between 40 and 60. Student will take only the non-mastered state standards of the course (when the previous teacher provides a list of mastered or non-mastered standards).
AHS Summer School
Summer School is for Athens High School students (grades 9-12) who have not been successful in mastering content standards in a core course, earning a final average below 40. This option enables students to repeat an entire previously failed core course.
AHS Credit Advancement
Credit Advancement is for high school students (grades 9-12) interested in taking a new course.

AHS Credit Recovery
This summer session option is for Athens High School students (grades 9-12) who have not been successful in mastering content standards in a core course, earning a final average between 40 and 60.
- Credit Recovery will meet June 2 - June 26 (in-person) on Mondays - Thursdays from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Athens High School.
- IN PERSON ATTENDANCE REQUIRED until the course is complete/standards are met. Failing to attend class on time each day will result in forfeiting the Credit Recovery course and NO course credit can be earned. No exceptions!
- Please note, students will participate in eLearning on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
- Student will take only the non-mastered state standards of the course (when the previous teacher provides a list of mastered or non-mastered standards).
- Limited to two courses per summer.
- Courses are listed in order of importance.
- First course must be completed before beginning the second course.
- Maximum grade that can be earned in Credit Recovery is 70. If a higher grade is desired, the course must be take through the traditional school setting.
- Credit Recovery will use BrightThinker, a web-based program, to meet individual student needs.
- Instructors will be available to assist students June 2 - to June 26.
- No digital device will be provided for home use. ACS device will only be available during the hours of Credit Recovery. Please complete the ACS Device Application by May 29.
- The NCAA does not accept credit recovery toward eligibility requirements.
- Please park in Parking Lot D (north parking lot) and enter near the cafeteria.

- Select Athens City Schools Central Office.
- Select Summer Session Fees.
- Select Athens High School Credit Recovery Course Fee.
Submit the AHS Summer Session Application and Credit Recovery Application to Mrs. Parker in person or by email at carla.parker@acs-k12.org. Please include the payment receipt with the application. Application and payment due by Thursday, May 29.
Step 3 - Device Agreement
ACS offers Summer Session opportunities for both Athens High School and Athens Middle School. Summer Session will be held June 2 - June 26 on Monday through Thursday. Devices will be provided for school use only for AMS Summer School, AHS Summer School and AHS Credit Recovery. AHS Credit Advancement device requests will be approved on a case by case basis. Please complete the information below for technology use during Summer Session.

AHS Credit Advancement
Overview
This summer session option is for high school students (grades 9-12) interested in taking a new course).
- Credit Advancement runs June 2, 2025 - July 3, 2025 and is virtual, with the exception of Driver's Education*.

Students are limited to two (2) credit advancement courses, unless approved by the counselor.

Credit Advancement form must be approved and signed by the school counselor.

Credit Advancement will use BrightThinker, a web-based program, to meet individual student needs.

Teachers will be available for assistance on Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM from June 2 - July 3.

50% of the course must be completed by June 26. All coursework must be completed by July 3 to earn credit.

No digital device will be provided for at home or school use.

AHS Credit Advancement device requests will be approved on a case by case basis.
*Driver's Ed classroom work will be both in-person and virtual depending on teacher requirements. Personal driving times will be assigned for in-person instruction between June 2 -July 2. Dates will be assigned after classes begin.
