Credit Advancement Overview

This summer session option is for high school students (grades 9-12) interested in taking a new course.

  • Credit Advancement is virtual and runs June 2 - July 2, except for Driver's Education, which is held in person and includes a driving component.*
  • Students are limited to two (2) credit advancement courses, unless approved by the counselor.
  • Credit Advancement form must be approved and signed by the school counselor.
  • Credit Advancement is virtual and will use ACCESS and/or BrightThinker platforms to meet individual student needs.
  • Teachers will be available for virtual assistance on Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM from June 2 - July 2.
  • 50% of the course must be completed by June 25. All coursework must be completed by July 11 to earn credit. 
  • No digital device will be provided for at-home or school use. AHS Credit Advancement device requests will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
*Driver's Ed classroom work will be both in-person and virtual. Personal driving times will be assigned for in-person instruction between June 2 and July 2. Dates will be assigned after classes begin.

  • Select Athens City Schools Central Office.
  • Select Summer Session Fees.
  • Select Athens High School Credit Advancement Course Fee.
