  • We Remember & Reflect:

On this the 18th anniversary of the September 11 tragedy, we remember and reflect.

“One of the worst days in America’s history saw some of the bravest acts in Americans’ history. We’ll always honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their sacrifice.”
—President George W. Bush at the Pentagon in 2008

“Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11.”

  • Dear AHS Students and Parents:

On behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Athens High School. Please know that we will do our very best to make this school year a productive one for parents, students, staff, and others associated with our school.

To accomplish our mission, it is vital that all components of the educational process work in a unified manner. As the executive principal, I will work hard to ensure that all Athens High School stakeholders work together to provide a quality institution for learning. The Athens City Schools Student-Parent Handbook is the administration’s first step toward unifying parents, students, and staff. This handbook contains information that is important to the operation of our school. It should be read thoroughly by parents and students, and then kept for future reference. Throughout this school year, parents and students should be mindful that AHS staff and I are available whenever there is a need for us. Please do not hesitate to call!

Our slogan is “Every Student, Every Day – Whatever It Takes!”

YOU as a student must understand and accept this challenge to make Athens High School the exceptional place for academic, athletic, and extra-curricular excellence.

Good luck to every student on a successful year and remember……

It’s great to be a Golden Eagle!

    Sincerely,

    Rick Carter, Ed.D.
    Executive Principal
