    Athens has a proud athletic tradition that dates back almost a century. Because of this rich heritage, becoming a Golden Eagle athlete is a goal of many students. Organized athletics offer students a structured group in which to be involved and learn many important life lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship and perseverance.   • The Athens-Limestone Christmas Parade steps off from Athens High School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7.  Students and faculty should park in the north parking lot to allow parking for the Christmas Parade floats.  Parking behind the school and in the south parking lot is the designated parking for Christmas Parade entries.
