  • Welcome Coach April Marsh to AHS!

Coach Marsh and Family Athens City Schools is excited to welcome championship volleyball coach April Marsh to Athens High School! Coach Marsh will be the the new head volleyball coach at AHS beginning summer 2019. She comes to us from Bob Jones High School and is the Director of United Volleyball Club of Madison.

She brings an impressive impressive legacy of success. Her accomplishments on the court include an overall record of 591-164, one state championship, three runner-up finishes at state, nine straight playoff appearances and eight area championships.

More importantly, Coach Marsh understands that building champions inherently involves building character. This philosophy is a perfect fit for our community and our goals for our student athletes. She is considered to be a program builder, and we are beyond excited to see what the future holds for our students, this program and Coach Marsh. Join us in welcoming Coach Marsh and her family to Athens!

  • Message from the New Principal

    Dear Students and Parents:

I will confess that I struggle to find the words to adequately express my excitement and enthusiasm in being allowed the opportunity to serve you and our students as Interim High School Executive Principal. There will be many opportunities over the next couple of months for each of us to get to know each other. I truly believe that Athens High School has an amazing staff and I am humbly grateful for their commitment, courage, and care that they display in so many different ways.

Please know that we will do our very best to make the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year a productive one for parents, students, staff, and others associated with our school.

To accomplish our mission it is vital that all components of the educational process work in a unified manner. As the interim principal, I will work hard to ensure that all Athens High School stakeholders continue working together to provide a quality institution for learning. The Athens City Schools Student-Parent Handbook is this administration’s first step toward unifying parents, students, and staff. This handbook contains information that is important to the operation of our school. It should be read thoroughly by parents and students, and then kept for future reference. Throughout the remainder of this school year, parents and students should be mindful that AHS staff and I are available whenever there is a need for us. Please do not hesitate to contact us!

As always, it’s great to be a Golden Eagle!

    Sincerely,

    Rick Carter, Ed.D.
    Dr Rick Carter
