Substitute Teaching in Athens City Schools
Thank you for your interest in working as a substitute with Athens City Schools. You must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of a high school diploma. If you are interested in working as a substitute in one or more of the following positions, you will need to have either an Alabama teaching certificate or an Alabama substitute license:
- Teacher’s Aide
- Nurse (RN or LPN)
If you are only interested in working in one or more of the following positions, you will not need a substitute license but you will need to complete the fingerprinting and background check with the State of Alabama:
For any of these positions, please follow these instructions:
- Complete the Athens City Schools Substitute Application Packet. Application packets are available at the Board of Education Central Office or by clicking on the information below. The office is located at 455 US Hwy. 31 North, Athens, Alabama 35611. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
- Return the completed packet to the Athens City Schools Board of Education marked to the attention of Kristin Heery.
- Attend a mandatory orientation. You will receive an email with the date and time.
