Dr. Trey Holladay
Trey Holladay is a thirty-two-year veteran public school educator with twenty-seven years spent in educational leadership. He holds an undergraduate degree from Athens State University in social science, a master’s degree from The University of West Alabama in educational leadership, a specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in educational leadership and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University. He is in his fourth year as superintendent of the Athens City Schools system. His previous experience includes system-wide administrator, high school principal, elementary principal, assistant principal, athletic director, classroom teacher, and head football coach within the state of Alabama.
Trey has been a frequent speaker on best practices in continuous school improvement and special education on both the national and state levels: he has spoken at the Consortium of School Networking in Atlanta, Georgia; the National Association of State Special Education Directors in Williamsburg, Virginia; The American Society of Quality in Education in St. Louis, Missouri; and the Alabama State Department of Education’s Mega Conference and Alabama Transitions on best practices in special education models. He has served as a mentor for new principals and assistant principals throughout the state. In the past, he served as the president of the state principals’ association and was selected as the Alabama Secondary Principal of the Year.
He believes in life-long learning and frequently attends continuing education conferences on instructional leadership and business improvement. He has been married to his wife, Deborah, for thirty years. They have two children: Will, a graduate of Auburn University and Mary Kate, a senior at the University of Alabama.

Mrs. Beth Patton
Beth Patton is an Athens native and has been part of the Athens City Schools team for twenty-six years. She obtained a BS in Elementary Education from Athens State University, a Master's from Alabama A&M University, and Class A Certification in Instructional Leadership from the University of North Alabama. Mrs. Patton serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative & Instructional Services for the school system.
She is married and has twin boys who just completed four years of college. She is very active in her church and community. As the homeless liaison and director of student services and learning supports, Beth sees the challenges facing our students and families and considers herself blessed to have opportunities to positively impact lives. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Athens City Schools Foundation, at 501(c) nonprofit oragnization supporting teachers and students in Athens City Schools.
