Degrees and Certifications:
B.S. Elementary Education, Athens State University A.A. English, Calhoun Community College
Welcome to my teacher page! I am ToBorsha Sweeney and I teach 2nd grade at Athens Elementary! Before becoming a Golden Eagle, I previously taught in Kindergarten in Huntsville City Schools.
I attended Calhoun Community College and received an A.A. in English. I attained my B.S. in education from the wonderful Athens State University and I'm certified to teach K-6 grades. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in school counseling at UNA. I live in Decatur, Al with my husband Anthony, stepson Jaquan, baby boy Zephaniah, and cat KitKit. I love God, food, traveling, music, reading, and writing!
I have always had a heart for the youth and felt that education could provide me the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. I have learned that great teachers don't just educate. They motivate! They inspire! They create! They look past the child's external limitations and draw out potential he or she didn't even know was within. I have experienced this myself with teachers and professors I have had throughout my own education. I strive to give my students those same things that were given to me to help me rise above my circumstances and get to where I am today! If I can make a difference in just one, my work is not in vain!
Parents don't forget to sign up for SeeSaw and Class Dojo! A paper was sent home with your child's individual codes for these sites. SeeSaw is a great way to see what we are learning in class. Class Dojo is an easy way to keep up with class news, your child's behavior and send messages. You can sign up using a computer or smartphone! SMS is also available! I would love to stay connected with you!
