Meet the Teacher
Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jill Davis
Hello, my name is Jill Mills Davis. I am a native of Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School, but I have lived in Madison for the past 13 years. I work with special education students in kindergarten.
I attended Tennessee Temple University and majored in Elementary Education. I also have preschool and middle school certification from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. After graduation from college I taught 3rd, 4th and 6th grades for a few years. I realized that I enjoyed working with the deaf and hard of hearing students so I took a job as a hearing impaired teacher and received my Masters in Special Education from the University of Alabama. I came to Athens City Schools in 1997 as the hearing impaired teacher in the joint city-county program. I taught the hearing impaired students from both systems at Tanner High School for 17 years. A few years ago I was ready for a change and asked to transfer to the Eagle's Nest program at Athens Elementary. This year I moved to kindergarten special education.
I have been married to my husband, Bruce, for 13 years. We live in Madison with our 2 dogs, Gus and Gracie. I enjoy doing all kinds of crafts. I knit and crochet. I love to read and love to play any kind of game. Bruce and I both love Alabama Football (ROLL TIDE!!). Although we have no children of our own, we have 9 great nieces and nephews we love to spend time with and spoil.
I count everyday I get the privilege to teach a blessing. I love teaching in inclusive environments because I get to watch children with varying abilities learn to work together and help each other every day. My hope for the students is that they reach their full pch because I believe every child can learn and each child learns in a different way. It is my wonderful job to find how each child learns best and then watch them blossom.
