  • Pomp and Circumstance

    Congratulations to the Class of 2018! Athens City Schools celebrated 237 graduates from AHS, 34 of whom were honor grads. All AHS honor graduates share the rank of #1. Athens Renaissance celebrated their second commencement service at the Limestone County Event Center in May. And so the adventure begins! Good luck graduates!

  • Elementary Teacher of the Year

    AIS fifth grade teacher Mrs. Tiffany Wilbourn was selected as the 2017 Elementary Teacher of the Year at the 2nd Annual Teacher of the Year Gratitude Banquet hosted by the Athens City Schools Foundation. Congratulations Mrs. Wilbourn! Learn more about Mrs. Wilbourn here.

  • iAcademy at Athens Elementary Innovation Lab Ribbon Cutting Ceremony AES was recently awarded a grant from local business partner WOW! Internet Cable and Phone. The $18,000 grant is being used to develop a new WOW! Innovation Lab and Makerspace for students at AES. AES is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at iAcademy at Athens Elementary to celebrate the opening of the WOW! Innovation Lab. The community is invited to attend.

  • Kindergarten Elementary Academy Showcase February 25 The Elementary Academy Showcase is a special event for families who have a new kindergarten student entering Athens City Schools. It will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 5:30-6:30 pm (come & go) at the Board of Education Central Office. The purpose of the showcase is to allow parents and students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of each of the academy models through first-person presentations and experiences with the principals and selected teachers from each academy. We encourage new kindergarten famlies to join us for this introduction to the Athens Academies before completing kindergarten registration.

  • Kindergarten Registration is February 25 - March 29 We are excited to welcome our newest students to Athens City Schools! Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year begins Monday, February 25, 2019. There will be an Elementary Academy Showcase on February 25 for new kindergarten families. The showcase begins at 5:30 pm (come & go until 6:30) at the Board of Education Central Office building. For more details regarding kindergarten registration, the Athens Academies, out-of-zone academy placement and the showcase, please visit our About Kindergarten Registrartion page now. All questions regarding kindergarten registration should be directed to the Office of Student Services at 256.233.6600 x 1103.

    Blue Ribbon Emblem iAcademy at Athens Elementary was recently honored as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence! This is a very prestigious award, and we are understandably proud of the dedicated leadership and teachers who make AES an amazing place for students to learn, grow and achieve.
