This spring was an exciting time for our AHS student athletes. We are proud of their dedication, determination, hard work and accomplishments. They represent our community well on and off the field, and we celebrate them. Here are the highlights from the spring season for our Golden Eagles.
This school year comes to a close with a flurry of year-end activities in the Athens City Schools. State testing, spring music concerts, academic awards ceremonies, graduation practices, and many other special events add to the hustle and bustle of the normal school day and classroom instruction. It has been a great year with many student accomplishments. As we wrap up another school year and celebrate the many successes of our students, we are already busy preparing for 2017-2018 school year.
It is graduation season in every corner of the country. Here in our sweet, southern small town, the caps and gowns are pressed, shoes are shined and diplomas are signed. The graduates are preparing to take that ceremonial walk across the field to receive the reward they have worked so hard to achieve. It occurs to us that graduation is the perfect intersection of the past, present and future.
SPARK Academy for STEM Education is an innovative program and product of Athens City Schools. SPARK (Scientific, Project-based, Academic Research by Kids) puts science first in the curriculum. Building on a foundation of non-fiction reading and literature, students spend the day exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) skills while using the latest technologies.
