The grant program was established by the Athens City Schools Foundation in 1995 to support creative teaching and to provide additional resources for explaining concepts and principals. The grants are part of ongoing efforts by the Foundation to promote education excellence. The grants were awarded at the Athens City School Teachers’ year-end meeting.

Goals of the Foundation...

Supporting the professional growth of faculty and staff
Providing venture capital for creative programs
Fostering intellectual & cultural enrichment for all students, including out-of-school experiences.
Rewarding student academic achievement
Supplementing public funds for the acquisition of books, materials, & equipment
Promoting the education of the community about the schools and their needs
Developing enrichment programs to address the needs of both the community & the schools, that exceed the national goals of excellence
Promoting greater parent participation in school activities
Providing a means for individuals & organizations to share resources & gifts with the school
Preserving the rich tradition & heritage of the Athens City Schools
