¨      Athens High School serves as a demonstration site for the Alabama Reading Initiative program.

¨      All K-6 schools in the system participate in the Alabama Reading Initiative.

¨      Athens Intermediate, Athens Middle Schools and all elementary schools are participants in the Alabama Math, Science, Technology Initiative(AMSTI).

       All schools participate in positive behavior support (PBS) 

¨      All elementary schools participate in the Third Grade Violin program.

¨      All elementary schools, the intermediate school, and the middle school participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program each year.

¨      Mobility Opportunities Via Education (MOVE) program is available for our special needs students at Tanner School.

¨      Gifted programs are offered at all K-8 schools.

¨      Dual Enrollment/Advanced Placement courses are available at Athens High School.

¨      Athens Middle School was selected as an 21^st Century Learning Initiative participant.

¨      Partners in Education program is active in every school in our system.

¨      Athens Middle School selected as a Making Middle Grades Work demonstration site.

¨      Athens High School offers two Pre-Engineering electives which provide an introduction to the various fields of engineering.

-      Athens High School participates in statewide ACCESS distance learning.

-      All elementary schools participate in Leaders in Me.
